This study will help us to understand how older adults who have home care aides prepare for disasters.
This is important because older adults who have home care aides need more assistance during a disaster than older adults who do not receive home care services.
1. To learn who older adults believe should be responsible for preparing them for a disaster.
2. To learn the reasons older adults who have home care aides choose to prepare or not prepare for a disaster.
This study is a collaboration between researchers at two universities: University of California San Francisco and New York University.
We will interview 100 older adults who have home care aides: 50 in San Francisco and 50 in New York.
